NO APP, NO SUBSCRIPTION, NO ACCOUNT NEEDED

Free from the headache of needing to configure everything yourself, EOSS works with you to ensure the best and least intrusive way to make the child's experience safe.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Nothing is 100% safe, and restrictions can be circumvented as the child grows older. This is a part of life, and of growing up. EOSS tries its best to give/implement accurate and functional controls and best practices, but cannot guarantee complete control.

Why EOSS is needed

8 Dangers of social media

Many parents are acutely aware of the dangers of unrestricted internet access, but are unaware that simply enabling the parental controls in settings doesn't affect the actual content or safety of the most used apps.

Its not just about adjusting settings, it's about understanding the risks each item poses and how to best deal with them. Some risks can be prevented or blocked like adult content or violence, but others like scams, unsafe behavior etc require education on how to avoid them yourself.

There are apps that claim to provide safety, but they can be complicated to set up, counterproductive to the goal and do not provide personalized results.

Safety Is Complicated

These 11 Instagram screenshots are just some of the controls you can set.

These controls allow you to set things like who can message the account, who can see and reply to stories, what accounts are blocked , what limits are in place for interactions with deemed bad accounts, setting time limits etc.

NONE of these settings are touched when a parent sets the parental controls in a phone's settings menu!

You can change these things in Instagram, but you still have the settings in tiktok, snapchat, youtube, reddit, and whatsapp to change!

What's the big deal?

The dangers of social media and phone addiction are well documented, but the sheer aggressiveness and momentum at which this is affecting the younger generation is alarming.

Kids spend 4.5hrs a day on social media

We lose a lot of social skills and ability to interpret meaning when we shift to just words on the screen. It affects more than we realize. The constant engagement of our brain on these hyper stimulant apps is causing:

Depression

Anxiety

Sleep Depravation

Gambling addiction

Drug addiction

Overt Pessimism

Radicalization

Less time spent with friends/family

Overstimulated dopamine receptors

Solutions

Why Past Solutions Failed

phone addiction concerns

Its easy to blame the phones, or the schools, or the companies themselves for allowing such addictive behaviors to continue, but it is difficult or impossible to change. Plus, this new form of communication expands our creativity and abilities.

Past solutions or attempts to mitigate this issue often result in two camps. The first is not doing enough, which is ineffective. The second is authoritarian, which often leads to an even larger outcry, causing an even stronger bond to the addiction than before.

EOSS provides an individualized approach, taking into account the child's age, interests, activity level and other factors to give them their own online safety template.

Creativity + Brain Development

There is a lot of good and important ways that screen use and digitally accessible software improves peoples lives and the critical development pieces of kids brains. Some examples below.
